Dear readers,
I hope this letter finds you well.
In today’s generation, “brainrot” has taken over the internet — especially on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other short-form platforms. Brainrot means when people say or repeat nonsense words (like “sigma”) that make no sense at all, or act in unrealistic and annoying ways just to get attention, likes, views, and subscribers.
I hear so many kids, teens, and even adults every single day — both online and in real life — repeating these useless words, sounds, and actions. Sometimes it’s so annoying that I feel like my brain is being thrown into the trash. Most of these videos aren’t creative. They are stolen or recycled content with loud noises added. The worst brainrot I’ve ever heard is “6/7”. It’s just a number, but people scream it like monsters whenever a teacher says “page 167” or “67 degrees,” and more than ten people in class start yelling for no reason!
There’s also Italian brainrot — words that come from offensive Italian phrases. People repeat them without understanding, which is disrespectful and inappropriate. Brainrot creators often abuse their viewers by forcing them to subscribe. They don’t care about education or creativity, only about making millions of dollars.
Why Brainrot is Dangerous
- Destroys focus: Loud, fast videos train your brain to expect constant stimulation and reduce attention span.
- Kills creativity: Most brainrot content is copied or recycled, offering no original ideas.
- Breaks logic: Numbers and words lose their meaning; kids scream “6/7” instead of learning math properly.
- Spreads disrespect: Offensive words from other languages get repeated without understanding.
- Wastes time: Hours spent scrolling could be used to learn, create, or play productive games.
How Brainrot Affects Schools
Schools are supposed to be for learning, not chaos. When teachers say normal things like “page 167,” classrooms explode with “SIX SEVEN” screams. Even some teachers laugh, encouraging the disruption. This wastes class time, frustrates serious students, and makes learning impossible. Math, science, and other subjects are affected because logic and focus are gone.
Gen Alpha Deserves Better
I always tell my little brother not to watch brainrot videos. I even installed YouTube Kids for him because it’s safer and educational. Kids should watch shows that teach words, speaking, colors, and logic — not random screaming. Many parents just hand iPads to children for hours to keep them quiet, which is unhealthy and addictive. Gen Alpha is not to blame — Gen Y and Z adults need to take responsibility.
TikTok and Brainrot Platforms
TikTok is one of the main reasons brainrot exists. Its algorithm pushes loud, shocking videos to keep users scrolling. This destroys logic, shortens attention span, and encourages mindless behavior. Schools should block TikTok on Wi-Fi and devices to protect students.
What We Should Do Instead
- Watch educational content: YouTube Kids, TED-Ed, Crash Course, National Geographic.
- Learn coding or creative hobbies: Roblox Studio, Scratch, Blender.
- Take breaks from social media: go outside, draw, or spend time with friends.
- Speak up: ask classmates and teachers to stop encouraging brainrot memes.
- Educate others: share this message and promote logic, creativity, and focus.
Final Message: Brainrot is not entertainment — it’s a virus that spreads stupidity, disrespect, and addiction. Stop watching brainrot content. Stop feeding creators who don’t care about your mind. Choose education, creativity, and peace. Let’s bring logic back to the internet!
